5 months have passed and creation just hasn’t happened. There’s a part of me that felt horrible that I haven’t picked up a brush or made music. Being an artist there is this so called pressure of the “creation factory” and it really is not a productive way of thinking. Instead I’ve just been in contemplative mode turning ideas and thoughts over in my brain. But when I approach my studio space nothing happens. I think back to the wonderful busy fall I had being involved with two big group art shows, which was a wonderful experience. It had been a number of years since showing in public and it felt so amazing being back in the ring again. Then Jan 10 2016 happened. This is when my world stood still when I found out the news that David Bowie had died. He was such a huge part of my life and such a huge inspiration in my creative life that I now feel this emptiness. It’s still hard to believe that he’s gone. Now what???
So this morning I had stumbled across this artists’ blog and her words being to ignite a spark and I became curious again. Wanting to be exciting again about bringing ideas to life. So I went for a walk to the corner store to grab sugar and cream. The weather was an actual warm spring day instead of feeling like your caught in a weather machine. While I was walking I was thinking how grateful I was for living on such a beautiful quiet street in the big smoke of Toronto. Then my eye caught this small 4in by 4in painting hanging on a telephone pole. It was beautiful!!! I was searching for the artist that put it there and there was no name, nothing. How brilliant was that!!!! Then as I walked further I saw another painting on a hydro pole!!! How cool was that!!!!! This really got the creative flame going!!!!
Here are the two beautiful artworks that caught my attention.
Now seeing the second piece looking at the perspective made me look up and what was in the painting was what I saw in reality! So I went back to the other painting and looked all around but I couldn't see where the perspective was coming from. I always remember back in Art School when my professor told me that a truly successful piece of work makes you stop and contemplate for more than a minute. Well these two pieces have definitely done that for me!!!
Welcome to my blog. My goal with this blog is to express thoughts, creative ideas and process, things that might be of interest to you and things that are an interest of mine. So sit back and enjoy the posts that will be unfolding on my blog :)
